Museum der Dinge

Just come back from a trip to Berlin. And came across this fascinating little ‘museum of things’ in the middle of Kreuzberg. If you would like to learn about ‘the Werkbund’ a german pre war version of  Sweden’s ‘ikea’  this is the place to go. It has an amazing collection of objects from early 19th century to the present day.

On the day we went to visit,  for just 3euros each we had a brilliant tour by Christian Mayrock a local artist and curator. He led us through the history of these objects, in conection to the Werkbund, which I’d never heard of before. And felt a bit more informed about a small bit of german design history.
