Jim Le Fevre

This guy’s work is amazing. He creates magical animations using a record player, camera and plasticine as well as other materials.

He calls it the ‘Phonotrope’ based on the idea of the  traditional ‘Zoetrope’. And performed the ‘Phonographantasmscope’ at the last Heavy Pencil at the ICA last Thursday.

He invited people in the audience to also create their own animations on prepared record shaped card which is gridded for you to put your drawings in.

Of course I had a go myself.

(my animation is the rainbow dots at the beginning)
